Legacy is not what’s left tomorrow when you’re gone.

“Legacy is not what’s left tomorrow when you’re gone. It’s what you give, create, impact and contribute today while you’re here that then happens to live on.”

Being a musician, I have always been in search of inspiration for my music. Recently, I was going through old family photo albums where I stumbled upon my grandfather’s picture of playing a guitar. As he was no more with me, I was intrigued to know more about his passion, hobbies and interests and the kind of life he led.

At first I couldn’t place the sense of familiarity that I saw in the pictures as he was from a different generation altogether, but it didn’t take me long to realize that his enthusiasm, curiosity and his zest for life was as same as mine.

I found the guitar that he was seen playing in the pictures along with few of his other belongings. It was a solid wood guitar and it still had a rich resonance, great sustain and in-built body. The joy of finding and being able to play something he owned still feels surreal to me.

Nothing gives me more happiness than the realization of using the same guitar that my grandfather owned to now me playing my music on it. The guitar has aged well just like my grandfather’s memories in my heart. I hope to pass on this guitar to my child now as it is a valuable family possession. It includes the treasured memories and reminiscences about important life events of our family and how we would like to be remembered.
