VIOLIN MY PASSION

My name is Maya. I’ve always enjoyed playing instrumental music, and I’ve always found it fascinating. Living in several eastern and western nations caught my attention in many musical genres. I’ve always wanted to work and study music, but it’s been difficult for me to do so.

I began taking music lessons when I was 12 years old, and that was the first time I became involved with music. I played the keyboard for nearly two years, but due to the demands of academic life, I only used it to perform a few modest school concerts. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the violin, but I’ve been too preoccupied with my studies.

I left my hometown at the age of 18 to pursue my education in Foreign Languages and Literature in Italy. I graduated from the University of Milan with a degree.

When I was 25, I felt that my ability to perform music was severely lacking in my life. In Italy, I didn’t have any instruments with me, so I borrowed a violin from a buddy who was studying violin at the time. I only played that violin for a year, but it was enough time for me to fall in love with it!

After a year, I decided to purchase my own violin. During the next two to three years, I took some private lessons. My playing, however, lacked a feeling of community and goal-setting, and as a result, I wasn’t very consistent in my violin studies.

Life was very challenging when I returned home. When I had the opportunity, I attempted to play the violin, but without a teacher or a community, it was difficult. Then, last summer, I discovered Violin School, which runs a violin orchestra for all ages and levels. I was thrilled at the idea of being a member of a community that shared my passion. So I joined the orchestra and ended up with a lot more than I expected. I discovered a family, and it was through this orchestra and Violin School members that I made some of my finest friendships.

My passion gave me hope that I can play the violin beautifully and enjoy it even if I had just begun to learn it. It’s never too late to learn something new and do something you love.

I’m currently studying yoga to become an advanced yoga teacher, and my aim is to one-day blend yoga’s unity with music’s harmony.

I joined the Violin School team at the beginning of this year, and my dream of working and learning music became a reality.
